Gen. Ahmad Yani posthumously (also spelled Achmad Yani, born in Purworejo, Central Java, June 19, 1922 - died at Crocodile Hole, Jakarta, October 1, 1965 at age 43 years) is a national hero of the revolution and Indonesia.
He is known as a soldier who was always opposed to the PKI (Indonesian Communist Party). While serving as Minister / Commander of the Army since 1962, he rejected the desire to form a Fifth Force PKI consisting of workers and peasants. That's why he became one of the target PKI will be kidnapped and killed between seven high-ranking Army through the G-30 (Movement Thirty-September). He was shot in the dining room in his house, Road Lembang D58, Menteng at 04:35 on October 1, 1965. His body was later found at Crocodile Hole.
His last position as Minister / Commander of the Army (Men / Army Commander) since 1962.
He was buried in TMP Kalibata, Jakarta.
Youth
Ahmad Yani was born in Jenar, Purworejo, Central Java on 19 June 1922 from Wongsoredjo family, who worked at the sugar factory owned by Dutch businessman. 1927, Yaniv moved with his family to Batavia, where his father worked for a Dutch general. In Batavia, Yaniv finished grade school and high school. In 1940, Yaniv quit high school to enter military service the Dutch East Indies colonial government. He entered the Military Topographic Service in Malang, East Java, but stopped because the Japanese invasion in 1942. At the same time the family moved back to Central Java.
